How to manage dietary preferences and allergens

Set your allergens, restrictions and eating philosophies once, and Aioli flags recipes that conflict with them.

Tell Aioli what you avoid and how you eat. Aioli then flags recipes that conflict with your settings and shows you which ingredient caused the flag.

Important. Aioli flags are a guide, not medical or allergy advice. If you have a serious allergy, always check the ingredients yourself. See our Food, Nutrition, Allergy, and Safety Disclaimer.

Update your dietary preferences

  1. Open the Settings tab.
  2. Tap Dietary Preferences.
  3. Choose from Allergens, Dietary Restrictions and Ingredients You Don't Like, and from the eating philosophies under How You Eat.
  4. You can pick more than one eating philosophy, for example Vegetarian and Kosher together.

Warnings when you plan a meal

When you add a recipe to a meal plan, Aioli checks it against your settings. What you see depends on who the plan is for.

  • Households: a warning appears for any conflict, whether it is an allergen, a restriction or an eating philosophy.
  • Just you: a warning appears for allergens. For restrictions and eating philosophies, the recipe shows a badge instead, so you are not interrupted every time.

See why a recipe was flagged

On a flagged recipe, the ingredient list names the ingredient behind each flag. A caption reads From and the ingredient name, or Hidden in and the ingredient name when an allergen is not obvious from the ingredient itself. The warning also shows the ingredient under each flagged item. You only see these notes for the settings you have chosen.
